So, the cat’s officially out of the bag. I feels good, but it also opens you up to the all the shit people have to say about what you should and shouldn’t eat, drink, if you/baby should get vaccinations, etc., etc, the list is endless. I know most people mean well and say things because they care and want to be involved but…HELLO! I’m already neurotic…please, let’s fuel this crazy fire!
Here’s the thing I’m learning about pregnancy/parenting advice: Everyone has it. No one lives your reality, but you. If you like what they have to say, take it! If not, take it with a grain of salt, smile and nod, or just say, “Shut the fuck up.” -Tact is my strong suit. 🙂
We had our first Centering Pregnancy session on Tuesday. It’s basically a group session to talk about pregnancy and parenting topics with other mommies- and daddies-to-be. The teacher in me really liked the idea of this. There are 10 couples, each session starts with a one-on-one with a midwife for measurements and hearing baby’s heartbeat. Then we discuss scheduled topics as well as topics group members bring up. All in all, I mainly thought it would be great to know other women are going through the same things I am. The session ended with a “let’s go around the room and share what pregnancy has been like for you so far.” Basically, everyone was smiles and rainbows and I’m the only one puking my guts out. What the hell?! So much for solidarity. In all seriousness, everyone seemed nice (I just kinda wish they were puking up their guts too).

How far along?
16 Weeks
Total weight gain:
I freaked and thought it was 10 when I weighed myself at night on Tuesday, but just weighed myself this morning and was at 6.8. So we’ll go with that!
How big is baby?
The size of an avocado. How this is bigger than an orange I do not know. Who had fruit measuring duties at thebump.com?
How I’m feeling:
Ok. Some good days, some bad days.
Maternity clothes?
Same. I just got a bunch more clothes in the mail from an Old Navy sale. I got some shorts for next month’s Maui trip. Bring on the bump.
Sleep:
Sleep is good…wish I could have weekday naptimes.
Best moment this week:
Hearing baby’s heartbeat (158) and scheduling our 20 (19.5) week ultrasound. Should know boy or girl on April 4th!
Food cravings:
V8, tofurkey lunch”meat” sandwiches on sourdough, avocado rolls, fruit.
Symptoms:
I’m the same pukey, tired mess.
Feeling toward Pregnancy:
It’s not that fun, but I hear the results are worth it. 😉
What I miss:
A flat belly and not puking.
What I am looking forward to:
The first week of April for the ultrasound, then Maui the next day!
