24 Weeks

Total weight gain:
20 lbs

How big is baby?
Cantaloupe-sized!

How I’m feeling:
I’ve been feeling great since Friday. I actually have energy back and no nausea! So, this is what those annoying “I loooove being pregnant” chicks were talking about.

Maternity clothes?
I went through my closet and put away everything that wont fit me. I was sick of putting on a shirt in the morning and realizing it had become a crop top. I have a bunch of dresses that will work with the baby bump, so I’m happy the weather is starting to heat up a bit!

Sleep:
It’d be great if my cat didn’t wake me up at 4am! It’s impossible for me to fall back to sleep once I’m up. We’ll call this baby training.

Best moment this week:
Getting the guest rooms cleared out. It feels so good to get rid of the junk! Just have the bed, desk and futon to get rid of and it’s in with the baby stuff!

Food cravings:
Meh, not really anything this week.

Symptoms:
An overwhelming urge to get the nursery done…is that a symptom?

Feeling toward Pregnancy:
Smiles and rainbows this week….who am I right now?!

What I miss:
Being able to cross my legs without having them fall asleep 2 min later!

What I am looking forward to:
I want to get the nursery furniture ordered soon, so I can start decorating!

Sleep:
Took a 2-hour nap both Saturday and Sunday after 10 hours of sleep. I’d take one today, if only I could!

Best moment this week:
Discovering that playing music up to my belly makes baby dance! Or…maybe kick and punch for it to stop…but we’ll call it dancing.

Food cravings:
Salad, salad, salad.

Symptoms:
Still feel like shit.

Feeling toward Pregnancy:
Meh.

What I miss:
Energy.

Hawaii 🙂

Holy movement, baby! Sunday night this kid was kicking like crazy. You could actually see my belly move and Dave felt it, big time!

We had our monthly appointment today. Baby was front and center, ready for the Doppler. We immediately heard the heartbeat when the midwife put it on my belly. Baby’s heart rate was 162.

18 Weeks

This past week was pretty good until Friday. I came down with a cold, woke up to snow, and puked after a week of no pukes. Dave was in Vegas, which made being sick over the weekend even harder. I had several emotional breakdowns over all of my misery. So much for that raved about second trimester…

My emotions have been totally nutso. Partly because I’m really sick of feeling sick and sometimes I just need to cry about it. On the flip side…cute things make me totally freak out to the point of tears. Puppies, kittens, baby elephants, Koko the gorilla meeting Mr. Rogers- Yes, this happened 15 years ago, but I was recently informed about it from John Green’s video:

John Green Video

And then I found out the actual episode of Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood was on hulu and made Dave watch it with me.

Total-frickin-nutcase.

16 Weeks

So, the cat’s officially out of the bag. I feels good, but it also opens you up to the all the shit people have to say about what you should and shouldn’t eat, drink, if you/baby should get vaccinations, etc., etc, the list is endless. I know most people mean well and say things because they care and want to be involved but…HELLO! I’m already neurotic…please, let’s fuel this crazy fire!

Here’s the thing I’m learning about pregnancy/parenting advice: Everyone has it. No one lives your reality, but you. If you like what they have to say, take it! If not, take it with a grain of salt, smile and nod, or just say, “Shut the fuck up.” -Tact is my strong suit. 🙂

We had our first Centering Pregnancy session on Tuesday. It’s basically a group session to talk about pregnancy and parenting topics with other mommies- and daddies-to-be. The teacher in me really liked the idea of this. There are 10 couples, each session starts with a one-on-one with a midwife for measurements and hearing baby’s heartbeat. Then we discuss scheduled topics as well as topics group members bring up. All in all, I mainly thought it would be great to know other women are going through the same things I am. The session ended with a “let’s go around the room and share what pregnancy has been like for you so far.” Basically, everyone was smiles and rainbows and I’m the only one puking my guts out. What the hell?! So much for solidarity. In all seriousness, everyone seemed nice (I just kinda wish they were puking up their guts too).

I freaked and thought it was 10 when I weighed myself at night on Tuesday, but just weighed myself this morning and was at 6.8. So we’ll go with that!

How big is baby?
The size of an avocado. How this is bigger than an orange I do not know. Who had fruit measuring duties at thebump.com?

How I’m feeling:
Ok. Some good days, some bad days.

Maternity clothes?
Same. I just got a bunch more clothes in the mail from an Old Navy sale. I got some shorts for next month’s Maui trip. Bring on the bump.

Sleep:
Sleep is good…wish I could have weekday naptimes.

Best moment this week:
Hearing baby’s heartbeat (158) and scheduling our 20 (19.5) week ultrasound. Should know boy or girl on April 4th!

Food cravings:
V8, tofurkey lunch”meat” sandwiches on sourdough, avocado rolls, fruit.

Symptoms:
I’m the same pukey, tired mess.

Feeling toward Pregnancy:
It’s not that fun, but I hear the results are worth it. 😉

What I miss:
A flat belly and not puking.

What I am looking forward to:
The first week of April for the ultrasound, then Maui the next day!
